In the Christmas spirit of peace and harmony, I give credit where credit is due. Chris Lee did something I agree with again, specifically in his new energy efficiency push: supporting the renewal of the $5000 tax credit for building an energy efficient home, tax deductions and credits for energy efficient commercial and residential buildings, and a couple other things.
While I disagree with Lee on a whole hell of a lot of issues, including the basic approach to energy policy and energy independence, in my view all of the proposals that have been put forward here are good and useful. It's true that a lot of this stuff has already been done or proposed: for instance, money provided in the stimulus plan for people to insulate and winterize their houses, or the fact that the $5000 tax credit was originally enacted some years ago. Still, many things in government get recycled and reproposed, and that doesn't make it less of a good set of proposals.
